The Case of the Transport Lines

Updated: Apr 7, 2024

A week after my arrival here, I went out to Central London. To get there from where the University is located, I had to take the London Underground line, the Tube, and the London National Rail, better known as the Trains. At that point, I avoided taking them; I mostly took the bus to travel. However, I needed to take those lines to get to certain places. Taking the tube and the trains here were simpler than I had expected. It reminded me a lot of the Subway public transportation back in New York City. This was why it was easy for me to navigate the London underground. Something different with London public transportation is that you’ll need to tap out when you get to your destination. You have to tap out all tubes and trains here, which is not the same for the New York City Subway transportation. Something else that I noticed is how all the train and tube lines here are not in letters or numbers but are actual names. For instance, the District, Central, Elizabeth, Victoria, Jubilee, Hammersmith & City, and Waterloo & City lines exist. On the other hand, some of the lines that exist in New York City are called A, B, C, D, E, F, 1, 2, 3. It was different to see train lines in the form of names, but besides that, I found the London underground line easy to navigate.
