I'm majoring in Economics and minoring in International Studies at The City College of New York. The classes that I took during my study abroad program reflected both my major and minor. I previously mentioned them in my other blog entries. The classes I took are Language, Society, and Power, Contemporary Issues in Global Religions, and International Business and Emerging Markets. The International Business and Emerging Markets class ended up being my favorite, I find it very much interactive and interesting. Though it's only 3 classes, it was the equivalent of 18 credits in the U.S. Each class taken at Roehampton will be worth 10 or 20 UK credits. 10 UK credits are considered equivalent to 3 US credits. Each of my classes was worth 20 credits so I achieved 60 UK credits in total.
I find all the classes engaging and interactive. I believe that they allowed me to have hands-on experience and practice the materials I was learning in class. Attendance wasn't required for all of the classes but of course, it was encouraged since you'll need to attentively attend class to understand the information presented on assignments. I had a couple of projects in some of my classes but mainly I had written assignments. All in all, I liked the classes I took and I believe that I was able to have a wider grasp of the on hand's aspect of my field of study.
I mentioned this earlier but my favorite class was International Business and Emerging Markets. My final research project on emerging markets which I liked working on will be included below.
